How much pasta per person?
For a main dish, plan on 75–100 g (2.6–3.5 oz) of dry pasta per adult. Light eaters need closer to 75 g; hungry guests can eat 125 g. Kids count as roughly 60% of an adult portion.
Dry pasta vs cooked pasta
Dry pasta roughly 2.25× in weight when cooked. So 100 g dry becomes about 225 g cooked. Use dry weight when shopping and cooked weight when serving.
Tips for serving pasta at parties
- Cook in big batches and keep warm with a splash of pasta water.
- Plan ~120 ml of sauce per adult.
- Add bread + salad to stretch portions.
