How Many Drinks Per Person?
A drinks plan should begin with total hydration, not alcohol. Set guest count, duration, setting and temperature first, then divide the total among selected categories.

Duration and weather adjustments
The baseline is 1.2 litres per adult equivalent for two hours. Each additional hour adds 0.35 litres. Warm and hot settings use 1.15 and 1.30 climate factors, and outdoor events add 8%.
Adults, children and alcohol-free choices
Children count as 0.6 adult equivalents for total volume. The alcohol-drinker percentage applies only to alcoholic categories; unused alcoholic allocation is moved to non-alcoholic categories so total hydration is not reduced.
How ice is calculated
The engine starts with ice equal to 18% of total drink volume by weight, then adds seven percentage points outdoors and eight percentage points in hot weather. It rounds the result to 2.5 kg bags.
Responsible event planning
Always provide water and appealing alcohol-free options, follow local drinking-age laws, and arrange transport so nobody drives after drinking. The calculator does not state a safe amount for an individual to consume.
Package rounding
Wine is rounded to 750 ml bottles, spirits to 700 ml bottles, beer and soft drinks to 330 ml units, and water or mixers to one-litre units. Package formats differ, so replace these defaults with the sizes available locally.

How much alcohol should I buy?
Enter the percentage of adults expected to drink alcohol and choose a distribution preset. The result is only a purchasing estimate; it is not a recommendation for individual consumption.
How much ice do I need?
The engine calculates ice from drink volume, outdoor setting and heat, then rounds to 2.5 kg bags. Separate chilling ice from ice intended for serving if local food-handling practice requires it.
